Tonight’s full moon is going to be a very special one thanks to the energy still in the air from the Summer Solstice (Litha), and a magical Lunistice event! Peaking at 9:08pm ET, or 02:08am BST on the morning of the 22nd for us UK folk, the moon will appear very big and very orange for quite a while. In fact, depending on where you’re viewing the moon from, it may even be red! Here’s why.
The Lunistice, or Lunar Standstill, is a rare occasion, only happening every 18.6 years. “Lunistice is when the moon reaches its furthest north or furthest south point during the course of a month. The declination of the lunar standstill varies in cycles of 18.6 years long due to lunar precession.” In basic terms, cause let’s be honest, that was some confusing Wiki spiel, the moon rises and sets at its most extreme points on the horizon. The earth’s atmosphere may also distort the moon’s colour. Because of this, the moon will appear low, large and orange for a long period of time during the night, and will appear to stand still, hence the name. Fancy sitting out to view it tonight? The best time is just after sunset. Make sure to take some crystals or water to charge and cleanse if that’s your thing!
With the solstice and lunistice coinciding with one another, the energy is going to be strong. Throw Capricorn’s energy in the mix and you have yourself one of the strongest strawberry moon concoctions to date! The Capricorn is a strong, ambitious and determined soul, making them one of the few who carry on when things are really tough. Relentless and stubborn, this little sea-goat never gives up, seeking pride and fulfilment, whether emotional or materialistic. This is our sign from the moon this month: Don’t give up.
However, nothing’s ever so straightforward. The moon is extremely close to Saturn right now, with a pairing happening around the 27th June. Saturn is slightly restrictive, meaning it may be hard to express our feelings which could hold us back on some things. As Saturn is in Pisces at the moment, the extremely intuitive sign, now is the time to listen to that gut feeling and maybe think over our emotions that little bit longer to make sure we’re not suppressing how we really feel or holding back on what we have planned.
Meanwhile, we also have a square aspect to Neptune on the way, which is the planet of dissolution and dreams, bringing confusion and a lack of clarity with it. Again, best to trust the gut to tackle this one.
But there’s always a positive! The sun is now in Cancer which is opposing the moon, and Cancer is the sign of emotion; it is soft and nurturing. Capricorn and Cancer oppose each other in the zodiac wheel, so this is actually the perfect alignment for progression and working through how we’re feeling. The sun will bring a calm, warm energy to the possible confusion in feelings, and as Capricorn is such a strong sign, it won’t take much to get back on track. After a short doubt or trouble understanding our inner monologue, we’ll be able to really process our emotions and aim towards our goals for the summer.
TL;DR: Stand still with the lunistice tonight – pause and appreciate. Use Capricorn’s horns and Cancer’s nurturing ways to push through the confusion. Don’t give up.

Everything you’ve been working towards within or towards your career is paying off, whether this be studies or actually at work. A little more work is required, so make a plan and stick to it. Assess where you want to be this time next year and work from there. If you’re not happy in your current job, this may be the time to aim higher.
3 New Moon in Aquarius – Bring love into the situation: Aquarius brings progress and development. It’s time to have some self-love and self-confidence in order to look forward and not back. It’s time to decide what you and only you want, but don’t cast away others on your journey ahead. They could bring benefits in the future.
